  • We are incredibly grateful for the abundance of bookings we've received this summer. It warms our hearts to see so many people coming together to celebrate community and connection.

We were honored to host the One Heart Circle's 19th Annual Prayer Dance, which brought together around 40 beautiful souls. We invite you to mark your calendars for the 20th cycle of this sacred event, taking place from June 14-23, 2024. We look forward to continuing to serve as a space for heartfelt gatherings and meaningful connections.

In July, nine wonderful women from the Chicago area shared time together at “Elements: A Woman’s Retreat.” They had this to say about their stay:  “We appreciated the power and energy of the land, the magical kitchen that had amazing flow, the cozy living room, and all of the power spots like the fire ring, barn, and Medicine Wheel. All this allowed us to create sacred space for each other.” We're thrilled to have provided such a wonderful experience for these amazing women. Thank you for choosing us as your retreat destination!

We are filled with gratitude as we reflect on our annual volunteer service weekend, “Love the Farm.” Despite the small group of ten attendees, we were overwhelmed by the talent and dedication they brought to various projects. The replacement of the yurt siding, and the addition of a larger window, was a particular highlight, as it provides a better home for our caretakers. Even weeks later, the generosity of RedHeart and Roy was astounding, as they helped to pick up the humanure equipment and put a new roof on our beloved drum lodge in the dance wheel. We are truly fortunate to have such a supportive community, and we look forward to continuing to work together to make our farm a better place for all.

Also the Farm hosted the summer program “Lake Superior: The Good Life” presented by Where There Be Dragons, an immersive youth travel program. This is the third consecutive summer we have hosted the group and we were happy to see them return.

  • September is here, and not too soon to plan to attend the Fall Ceremony “Healing and Celebration” hosted by the Buffalo Society of the One Heart Circle. Save the Date: September 29 to October 1. In high ceremony, the People will gather to hold a Wisdom Council with a question that will yield vitality for our community.

Two separate and private wellness retreats are also booked. We are grateful!

Fall calendars are full but there is one weekend in September and one in October open for booking if you would like to plan a Fall Colors get away. Reach out now to book Potter's Farm.

  • gift and estate planning

For 30+ years, the Potter’s Farm Retreat Center has provided an opportunity for hundreds of guests to connect with themselves through the natural surroundings and offered programs. Today, it remains vital in supporting a variety of events and ceremonies that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. As a supporter of Potter’s Farm, you provide the largest source of funding that powers work to build, maintain, and renew the property when it is needed. In addition to a yearly or monthly gift, you can also leave a legacy gift that will protect and serve Potter’s Farm into the future.

A planned gift to Potter’s Farm Retreat Center — through your wills, retirement plans, or real estate and insurance policies — is a powerful and thoughtful way to share your dedication to the Farm with future guests or family members. Your gift to Potter’s Farm may also provide welcome tax benefits to you and your estate.

Here are a few ways you can leave a legacy to ensure the integrity and vitality of Potter’s Farm for generations to come:

Make a bequest to Potter’s Farm Retreat Center in your estate plan

A charitable bequest is a common, simple way to include the Farm in your estate plan to protect the future of the center.

A bequest to Potter’s Farm is free from federal and state taxes and can be made either outright or contingent upon the death of the named beneficiary. The amount of the bequest is deducted from your estate total, offering substantial savings by decreasing the value of the estate subject to taxation. There is no limit to the amount of your estate that can be left to charitable organizations.

The following is language that we recommend you use to name Potter’s Farm Retreat Center as beneficiary of your will or codicil:

“I hereby give, devise and bequeath $____ (specific dollar amount)____, AND/OR ____ (specific percentage)____ percent of the residue of my estate AND/OR real estate located at ______(specific location)____ to Potter’s Farm Retreat Center, a Wisconsin nonprofit corporation exempt from federal taxation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, currently located at 75900 Potters Farm Road, Washburn, WI 54891, Federal Tax Identification number 39-1740523.”

If you designate that Potter’s Farm is to receive real estate, please state in your will or codicil that the property is to be sold through your estate and Potter’s Farm is to receive the proceeds from its sale.

Name Potter’s Farm in your Life Insurance Policy

Life insurance policies allow several ways to give. You can donate a paid policy that you no longer need by naming Potter’s Farm Retreat Center as the beneficiary and policy owner. In return, you will receive an immediate tax deduction based on your cost basis in the policy, and it will reduce the value of your estate by the full face value of the policy, potentially reducing estate taxes. Upon your death, the life insurance proceeds will be passed on to Potter’s Farm.

Make Potter’s Farm the beneficiary of your Qualified Retirement Plan or IRA

By designating Potter’s Farm Retreat Center as the primary beneficiary of your qualified retirement plan or IRA, this asset avoids income and estate taxes. Alternatively, you can name Potter’s Farm as contingent beneficiary upon the death of the named beneficiary. Before your passing, you may be eligible to make a qualified charitable contribution to Potter’s Farm directly from your IRA.

We recommend you consult with your financial planner, attorney or tax accountant about how a planned gift to Potter’s Farm will work for you.  We know it will work for us!

If you have already named Potter’s Farm Retreat Center in your will, please let us know so we can thank you during your lifetime.

The Farm holds a special place in our hearts and we recognize its immense value to our community. We are truly grateful for the unwavering support and generosity of those who give their time, energy, and financial resources. Your contributions have helped us achieve our goals and continue to make a difference. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a crucial part of our mission.
