Cool Nights and Bonfires

Ahh, the cool nights are upon us and the seasonal shift has begun. School buses are in motion. Fall harvesting from the garden begins. Bonfires require an extra layer. Such a beautiful season to celebrate life. How will you celebrate this time?

  • Taylor and Clara have been attentive to all the routine needs of caring for the farm. The Board purchased a used zero turn mower that allows the mowing to be completed more efficiently, allowing more time for other projects. Some of these projects included: removing white pine seedlings growing in the meadow, building shelves for wi-fi units, hanging a new dining room door, painting exterior doors, removing sumac from the garden and building a bridge to make the perimeter path more accessible.

Fall projects will include building another bridge for the trail, putting down grass seed, and learning more about composting.

    Taylor and Clara share:
As our sixth month on the Farm comes to a close, we feel very special to have been able to watch the Farm through several seasons. When we arrived last spring, there were still the remnants of winter. It has been a privilege to watch the last of the snow melt and see what popped up through the mud and leaves. Buds turn into blossoms as spring turned into summer and now that we are watching all the autumn colors arrive, we can say that Potter’s Farm is beautiful in every season. We look forward to the beauty the next six months have to bring!

  • Here’s our financial update for the second quarter of 2022.

Incoming revenue was $5,623 for the quarter. Events created 60% of income; donations 40%.

Expenses were $11,014. Major items included updated barn light fixtures and electrical, propane (which has increased in cost), and a new electronic thermostat.

Our overall budget for the year is ($4,320) as we anticipated investments into the Farm structures and land.

Steps continue to make the Farm an AirBnB listing a possibility. This will help to support the Farm during months when there is not much programming.

In kind donations such as a mattress, bedding, label maker, tools, and TV were made in the quarter. Needed items are greatly appreciated and please check with a board member if you have something you think the Farm needs.

Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits.
